So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright
A tribute in song to Frank Lloyd Wright by Simon and Garfunkel
Featured in their album, Bridge Over Troubled Water

Lyrics from So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright
So long, Frank Lloyd Wright.
I can't believe your song is gone so soon.
I barely learned the tune
So soon
So soon.
I'll remember Frank Lloyd Wright.
All of the nights we'd harmonize till dawn.
I never laughed so long
So long
So long.
CHORUS
Architects may come and
Architects may go and
Never change your point of view.
When I run dry
I stop awhile and think of you
So long, Frank Lloyd Wright
All of the nights we'd harmonize till dawn.
I never laughed so long
So long
So long.

Comments about this song from www.songfacts.com These comments have not been verified as true by Ronald Bolender. Art Garfunkel dared Paul Simon to write a song about Frank Lloyd Wright. This song was the answer to that dare. Frank Lloyd Wright is a famous architect. Garfunkel once studied to be an architect because he thought his career as a musician would never pan out. This song can also be interpreted as a good-bye from Paul to Art since "Bridge" was their last album together. The phrase "I remember the nights we'd harmonize till dawn, I never laughed so long, so long, so long..." The repeated use of "so long" can be interpreted as a goodbye. (thanks, Kristy - La Porte City, IA, for all above) There's a funny line at the end that you have to listen to carefully. Art Garfunkel sings "So Long" so many times that Paul responds "So Long Already, Artie!" (thanks, Tristan - L.A., CA) In Ayn Rand's book Fountainhead, the character Howard Roark was loosely based on Frank Lloyd Wright. (thanks, Chetan - Bangalore, India)
