Course Description

An analysis of needs in various communities and methods of implementing solutions to meet those needs. Special emphasis is given to applying a distinctively Christian focus to urban or rural community.  (Mount Vernon Nazarene College: A descriptive catalog with explanations of undergraduate programs and courses for 2001-2002. 2001. Position of the Course in the College Curriculum

This is an upper-division course which can be used to fulfill electives in the general and criminal justice tracks of the sociology programs (as well as the sociology minor). It is a requirement for the community development track of the sociology major. Prerequisite: SOC373 Sociology of Community.

Method Used in Course

This course is organized in an interactive format, with questions, comments, and discussions encouraged at all class meetings. Realization of course objectives depends upon both the instructor and the student. The instructor's role is primarily facilitator. The student bears the responsibility of learning; grades reflect what the student has learned.
