Video: America's War on Poverty: City of Promise

Can the cities be saved? In the 1960s, the locus of poverty becomes urban. After the initial wave of optimism, a wave of anger and despair sweeps through the War on Poverty and settles in Newark, New Jersey. In search of adequate housing and jobs, community organizers in Newark attempt to reclaim a devastated inner city. Produced by Blackside, Incorporated, 1995.
