          Grants

  • Faculty Development Grant Program (Category II), Summer 1999. This is a mini-grant that MVNU awards to selected projects. This grant was for the development of Internet related resources for the SOC444 Sociological Theory course. The focus of this project is to blend the best of pedagogical teaching along with the advantages of the Internet.

  • Faculty Development Grants Program, April 7, 1987, Title III. The name of the grant was Evaluation Management as an Application of DBASE III PLUS.  The purpose of this grant was to encourage the use of the personal computer in the Registrar’s Office as an evaluation tool.

  • CEEP Grant, Spring 1991, Teagle Foundation, New York, New York. This grant was awarded to Mount Vernon Nazarene University to work with retention and the underprepared student. It was a five year $250,000 grant (an additional $250,000 was raised by the college as a matching grant). The proposal was written by a team of administrators. I was responsible for the design and implementation of the grant.

          Sabbatical

  • Received a Sabbatical for the 2003-2004 academic years. The focus of this Sabbatical was to develop a strategy for incorporating the service learning concept into the sociology program at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. 

          Online Faculty Evaluator        

  • Serve as an online faculty evaluator for Ohio Christian University, Circleville, Ohio (from June 2, 2009 to present). This role provides an external review of the quality of instruction in the online courses offered by Ohio Christian University.   

          Dissertation Committee

  • Served on a dissertation committee for Regent University, School of  Education (January 2009 to December 2009). The topic of the dissertation was, The Development of Cognitive Moral Reasoning in an Adult Degree Completion Program. The chair was Dr. Michael K. Ponton. The doctorial candidate was John Washatka.
