Summary

A long hard day of mountain driving southward from Oaxaca to the Pacific coast.

We had an interesting surprise on this trip. As we began the first of four mountain ranges to cross--we discovered that the condition of the roads were VERY primative.

As we rounded a turn on the first mountain range--we came face to face with a road construction crew--literally rebuilding the road--this is the road we traveled for the rest of the day.

This is near where soldiers in the mountains stopped our vans at machine gun point--to inspect us and our intentions. We were out in the middle of "no-where." (Obviously we did not take photos of the soldiers.)

This is one of my favorite photos--in the middle of four mountain ranges--deep in southern Mexico--on very primitive roads--where tourists seldom travel--there is a Coca-Cola sign.
