Dr. Ron Bolender was contacted
by an architectural association in Lyon, France, for photos of
Fallingwater, a
Frank Lloyd Wright
design. His photos were used for an educational book and
interactive CD-Rom game about architectural design.
See
Bolender’s web page
about Fallingwater. Click on this link for
more information
regarding the book and game.
Amanda Flower, Technical
Services Librarian, will have her short fiction work, “She
Knows,” published in the December issue of Brio, a Focus
On The Family magazine for young girls.
Dr. Rich
Huebner will
present a research paper, “A Framework for Analyzing Behavioral
Aspects of Enterprise Security” at the American Society of
Business and Behavioral Sciences (ASBBS) Conference in February
2007. The paper received the Best Paper award for the Management
Information Systems track. Huebner also serves as the ASBBS as a
Track Chair.
Dr. Kyong L. Kim
presented a paper titled “Two Semiotic Models Appreciating René
Magritte’s Paintings” at the Semiotics and Communication
Division of the 92nd National Communication Association
Convention in San
Antonio, Texas, in November. While staying in San
Antonia, Kim visited the Alamo
and made sketches of it. Over Thanksgiving break, he used the
sketches to produce two watercolor paintings. One is seen here.
Dr. Doug Matthews and 4,000
other people across the country participated in what has been
dubbed the “nation’s largest Christian talent search,” held by
Salem Communications and Daywind Music of Nashville, Tenn. “I
entered at the last minute on a lark because I heard a radio ad
in Florida,” he said. “I
haven’t done too many solos, but figured this would be a great
way to get some professional feedback.”
He submitted his CD and made it, along with 30 others, all the
way to regionals, which were held in Atlanta, Ga., in September. The national finals, which
Matthews did not make, will air on cable television in February.
He encourages many of our talented songwriters and singers to
enter next time around.
